Dropbox is s better choice by far for file sharing
Ive been a loyal user of Hightail since its yousendit era. Its been useful for the occasional sending of several mbs of file transfer, however I feel betrayed after signing up for the "pro" service and waiting literally for years to get better performance quality.
First of all their web browser based file uploading system is very inefficient because the file transfer errors that happen about 50% of the time nullify the transfer all together. Very depressing when you use up your homes uploading bandwidth for several hours only to see a "something went wrong, upload again" type message.
This leaves the only choices for uploading the desktop "app". Which is basically a folder sync add-on to the finder. Your iPhone app version of hightail will only get you so far as to check how far along this desktop app has been able to sync.
There are obvious restrictions based in your network environment. especially related to the amount of data transfer allowed by your provider or possible at one time on your leased network line. But time and time again, Dropbox beats Hightail in uploading files more consistently and faster.
So in conclusion if you are looking for a file transfer app that works, search for something else. I use Dropbox and only use Hightail because over time Ive accumulated a lot of data on their servers (that takes ages to download and makes it harder to make a move to another platform)
Dont end up like me.
Test syncing several file share, or data transferring services and make sure that they are consistent services because they may change the fate of you making it missing a client deadline. I now use Dropbox for important file transfers.
Hightail has a cool color scheme.
